On October 28, 2014 was held a conference in Namangan territorial branch of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan of nominating deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan.
The conference brought together 367 activists from all regions of the Ecomovement area. Worthy of special mention is the fact that the participants of the conference were the true followers of environmental security in the country and in the region, environmental scientists who are actively engaged in activities for the protection of the environment, improve public health, as well as intellectuals, specialists in the field of nature protection, medicine, environmental education and training, lawyers, economists, as well as representatives of NGOs and other civil society institutions.
As a guide it should be noted that the December 25, 2008 adopted the Law "On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improvement of electoral legislation". On December 27, 2009 at the Conference of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan were nominated and elected 15 members of the Ecomovement. They are elected on an alternative basis of the number of delegates to the Conference, nominated by the territorial offices of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan held conferences in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent city.
It is extremely important that in order to strengthen the role of Parliament in solving environmental problems, environmental protection for the first time in the history of the institute of parliamentary quota of seats in the legislature for the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.
During the reporting period, the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan the Ecomovement initiated the development and adoption of several laws. According to the Concept of further deepening democratic reforms and formation of civil society in Uzbekistan has been developed and adopted a law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Environmental Protection". This law determines the place and the role of NGOs and other civil society institutions in the implementation of public environmental control.
Deputy group of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan of the Legislative Chamber of the new edition of the laws "On protection and use of flora", "On protection and use of wildlife", "On Waste" developed nine bills, including two law on Uzbekistan's accession to the UN Convention.
On the implementation of public environmental control Ecomovement were conducted with more than 500 events. Including 200 organizational and application event, 20 conferences, 65 workshops, 122 analytical measures, some of them carried out in foreign countries.
The conference elected the working bodies and determined the agenda.
After that, the participants began discussing the agenda - the election of 25 delegates to the Republican Conference of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan. Delegates to become acquainted with the Regulation "On the procedure for submission and selection of candidates for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan of the Ecomovement of Uzbekistan".
According to the Regulation on the election of delegates to the territorial offices of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan made the supreme body of the territorial offices - Conference.
In accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the national conference of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan on an alternative basis, by secret ballot, elected 25 delegates.
The speakers at the conference, it was emphasized compliance deputy quota of seats in parliament to international law, including the Declaration "On the criteria of free and fair elections", adopted unanimously at the 154 th session of the Interparliamentary Union (Paris, March 26, 1994).
The conference was attended by representatives of the Central Election Commission, the media, as well as observers, including foreign ones.
Participants noted that the conference was in full compliance with the principles of democracy.
