On February 20, a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. After approving the agenda proposed by the Kengash (Council) of the Legislative Chamber, deputies considered a number of new draft laws in the first reading, aimed at further deepening reforms in different spheres of society.
On the eve, meetings of factions of political parties and the deputy group of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan were held, where issues introduced in the agenda were tentatively considered. According to the results of a thorough discussion of the draft laws, proposals and recommendations aimed at their further improvement were developed.
Deputies began their work with a discussion of the draft law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On joint-stock companies and protection of shareholders' rights”. In his report at the joint session of the Oliy Majlis, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, highlighting the importance of developing the corporate governance system, noted that shareholders and especially minority shareholders, as practice shows, do not fully use their rights, do not affect the activities of associations.
On February 2, 2015, was held an enlarged meeting of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan and its deputy group in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. It was dedicated to the discussion of priorities of the Ecological Movement arising from reports of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the first session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of socio-economic development in 2014 and the main priorities of economic program for 2015, as well as the joint session of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was opened by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Kengash (Council) of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan B.Alikhanov. He spoke about the priorities of the Ecological Movement and its deputy group in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis for 2015 and subsequent years.
On February 12, a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, law enforcement agencies and courts, civil society institutions. After approving the agenda proposed by the Kengash (Council) of the Legislative Chamber, deputies heard the report on the activities of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights in 2014.
The report was made by the Commissioner Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) S.Rashidova.
It was noted that the main activities of the Ombudsman during the reporting period were promoting the improvement of national legislation on human rights, monitoring of its compliance, consideration of citizens’ appeals, raising legal consciousness and awareness of public and officials, international cooperation in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms.
The work was conducted in close cooperation with the committees of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, judicial and law enforcement authorities. The Ombudsman also took part in control and analytical activities of Parliament. Ensuring transparency and preventing violations in implementing the amnesty act took special place in the activities of the Ombudsman and its regional representatives.
Public of the country is widely discussing the results of conducted joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. In the report of the President Islam Karimov, a deep analysis of the activities of Parliament is presented and the most important challenges facing the Parliament on radically improving the work in accordance with modern requirements, improving the quality of legislative activity are identified.

- At the joint session of chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in his report covered a wide range of strategic issues, particularly important for our society and country. The priorities and directions were not made just as an appeal of the head of the state to parliament, but in fact are further consistent steps in ensuring realization of the main strategic goals of the state on the path of reformation and modernization of the country in all spheres of its life.
On February 5, was held a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the lower house of parliament N.Ismailov.
After approving the agenda proposed by the Kengash (Council) of the Legislative Chamber, deputies considered the issue of electing committees of the lower chamber of the Oliy Majlis. In accordance with the Constitution and the Constitutional Law “On the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, 11 committees of the chamber are formed for conducting legislative work, preliminary consideration and preparation of issues to be submitted to the Legislative Chamber, control over the execution of laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan and decisions taken by the chamber among deputies of the Legislative Chamber. All members of committees of the Legislative Chamber have equal rights. Deputy, not elected to the Committee shall be entitled to participate in its activities with an advisory vote.
Deputies considered the issue of establishing a permanent Commission on normative-legal terms. It consists of members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, with experience and skills of professional legislative work.
Kegeyli District of Karakalpakstan has hosted a seminar on alternative energy sources and their effective use.
At the seminar, which was attended by heads of farms and businesses, noted the effectiveness of the work being done to promote the use of alternative energy sources.
The seminar participants were acquainted with the project for the production of molded coals that is being implemented in the district in partnership with the German Technical Cooperation Organization. Molded coals, made from straw, twigs and leaves of plants, are widely used for heating greenhouses and housing and are environmentally friendly and highly efficient.
“The equipment procured in Germany can produce 80 kg of molded coal per hour,” says the project coordinator Bahtjon Habibullayev. “The fuel is easy to use and can replace a natural gas in boilers.”
In Tashkent State Technical University named after Abu Rayhan Beruni on the initiative of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan conducted "round table" dedicated to ongoing projects for the protection of wetlands and the role of skilled professionals in the logical extension of this work, according to the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting it was noted that, in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Programme of Action for the Protection of the Environment of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2013-2017" dated May 27, 2013 extended the scope of ongoing activities in this direction.
In our country implemented measures for the protection of wetlands and their flora and fauna. Particular attention is paid to the participation of young qualified specialists in scaling up of implemented projects in the sphere.
In Tashkent State Technical University are working to clarify the students of the Faculty of Mechanics, to get an education in the direction of biotechnology, the priority challenges facing science and society, providing them with modern knowledge, the organization of effective theoretical and practical lessons. An important role in this is cooperation with relevant government non-governmental organizations, leading academic institutions, industrial enterprises.
On January 22, 2015, the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held its first plenary session.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirza - Ulugbek Abdusalomov. Uzbek President Islam Karimov attended and spoke at the meeting.
Congratulating the members of the upper house with election and expressing his views on the priorities of the Senate on the prospects, the President nominated Nigmatilla Yuldoshev on the position of Chairman of the Senate, which was supported by the senators in a secret ballot.
According to Norma.uz, senators elected from among its members the Vice-President of the Senate, one of whom was Svetlana Artikova, and the second - a representative of the Republic of Karakalpakstan - Chairman of Jokargy Kenes Musa Erniyazov.
Then members of the upper house organized the committees of the Senate and chose their chairmen: for Budget and Economic Reforms (Chairman - F.Umarov) Legislation and Judicial and Legal Affairs (B.Matmuratov), Defence and Security (F.Dadahodzhaev), foreign policy (S.Safaev), science, Education, Culture and Sports (Z.Nizamhodzhaev), Agriculture, Water Management and Ecology (H.Chinibekov).
